How to use this Toolkit

This toolkit has been created for academics specialised in the Science and Society area in order to assess the impact of Science Communication Initiatives and Policies (SCIPs). Under the term SCIPs we mainly consider science centres or museums, science events and cities of scientific culture, but this instrument could also be applied to other initiatives.

The toolkit takes a triple level/dimension approach, where “level” refers to the agent that is responsible for the SCIP and “dimension” to who or what is receiving the influences of SCIP. Having these two variables in mind, users can move through the table to determine which methodology is the most appropriate to assess their cases. When in doubt, check out previous case studies to see how previous researchers have used the toolkit at the Case Studies section.
